As the Knights of Columbus prepares to celebrate its 126th Supreme Convention in Quebec, we are very happy to be a part of the large Catholic revival that the province has seen this year. In the midst of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City, the Knights Convention and last month's International Eucharistic Congress - which the Knights sponsored financially and assisted with volunteers - are both important signs of the Church's vibrancy and renewal in Quebec.
Of course, the province of Quebec holds an important place in the history of the Knights. Our founder, the Venerable Servant of God Father Michael McGivney, studied in Montreal and Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, and our first council founded outside the United States was Montreal Council No. 284 in 1897.
And this year, the 78,446 Quebec knights led the Order in charitable donations, and continue to support the Church in Quebec at every level, and we are grateful for their hospitality.
Our 126th Supreme Convention promises to be a good one, and we hope you will all watch tomorrow's events on Salt and Light, EWTN, or Boston Catholic Television - who are graciously providing coverage. You can also watch online via streaming video at EWTN. We are grateful to the many media outlets who have chosen to cover our convention.
In addition to watching the coverage, you are invited to participate - from wherever you may be - by adding your comments here on this blog.
